9-September-1812The first paper currency was issued by the Bank of Bengal. The notes of this bank were later printed by Perkins, Heath & Co. in England. They can be distinguished into at least 10 different types. They were issued in a wide range of denominations from Rs. 10 to Rs. 1000.
9-September-1850Bhartendu Harish Chander, father of modern Hindi literature, poet and dramatist, was born.
9-September-1872Sarladevi Chaudharani, Bengali poet, was born.
9-September-1896Shyam Lal Gupt 'Parshad', freedom fighter, social worker and Padamshree awardee, was born in Narwal village near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

सचिन तेंडुलकर - सचिन रमेश तेंडुलकर (एप्रिल २४, १९७३ : मुंबई) हा क्रिकेटविश्वात डॉन ब्रॅडमन याच्यानंतर जागतिक स्तरावर सर्वोत्तम मानला जाणारा माजी भारतीय क्रिकेटपटू आहे. पद्म विभूषण आणि राजीव गांधी खेलरत्न या पुरस्कारांनी तो सन्मानित केला गेला आहे. सचिनला भारत रत्न हा सर्वोच्च नागरी सन्मान दिला गेला.
