भगतसिंग - २३ मार्च,१९३१ रोजी भगतसिंग (जन्म : सप्टेंबर २७, १९०७ - मृत्यू : मार्च २३, १९३१) लाहोरच्या तुरुंगात हसत हसत फासावर गेले. फाशी जाताना त्यांचे वय अवघे २३ वर्षांचे होते. भारताला स्वातंत्र्य मिळावे म्हणून अनेकांनी हौतात्म्य पत्करले. त्यांच्या स्मरणार्थ २३ मार्च हा दिवस, भारतात शहीद दिन म्हणून पाळला जातो.

  • १५४० : पोप पॉल तिसर्‍याने सोसायटी ऑफ जीझसला (जेसुइट्स) मान्यता दिली.
  • १५९० : अवघे १३ दिवस सत्तेवर राहिल्यावर पोप अर्बन सातव्याचा मृत्यू.
  • १७७७ : लँकेस्टर, पेनसिल्व्हेनिया एक दिवसासाठी अमेरिकेची राजधानी झाले.
  • १८२१ : मेक्सिकोला स्पेनपासून स्वातंत्र्य.
  • १८२५ : द स्टॉक्टन अँड डार्लिंग्टन रेल्वेने जगातील सर्वप्रथम प्रवासी रेल्वे वाहतूक सुरू केली.
  • १८५४ : एस.एस. आर्क्टिकला अटलांटिक महासागरात जलसमाधी. ३०० मृत्युमुखी.
  • १९०५ : ऍनालेन डेर फिजिकमध्ये अल्बर्ट आइनस्टाइनचा एखाद्या वस्तूचे जडत्व त्यातील उर्जाप्रमाणावर अवलंबून असते का? हा शोधनिबंध प्रसिद्ध झाला. यात आइन्स्टाईनने E=mc2 हे समीकरण पहिल्यांदा मांडले.
  • १९२२ : ग्रीसच्या राज कॉन्स्टन्टाईन पहिल्याने पदत्याग केला. त्याचा मुलगा जॉर्ज दुसरा सत्तेवर.
  • १९४० : जर्मनी, इटली व जपानने होन्शू बेटावरील टायफूनमध्ये ५,००० ठार.
  • १९५९ : जपानच्या त्रिपक्षी तह स्वीकारला.
  • १९९६ : अफगाणिस्तानमध्ये तालिबानने काबूल जिंकले. राष्ट्राध्यक्ष बुरहानुद्दीन रब्बानीने पळ काढला तर नजीबुल्लाहला रस्त्यात फाशी देण्यात आली.
  • २००२ : पूर्व तिमोरला संयुक्त राष्ट्रांत प्रवेश.
  • २००२ : मराठीमाती या मराठी संकेतस्थळाची सुरूवात.
