28-September-1827A few mountain battery trains flourished and kept the Indian component alive as part of the Royal artillery. Recently, it has been established that 8 Company Bombay Artillery survived axing and is now 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery. This day is now celebrated as the Raising Day of the Regiment of Artillery.
28-September-1837Bahadur Shah-II ascended the throne and became the emperor of Delhi at the age of 62 following the death of his father Akbar Shah-II.
28-September-1909Jairaj, famous film actor, was born. His first film was 'Sparkling Youth' (1930). He was a receipant of Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Some of his films are 'Fight unto Death', 'All for love', 'Bhawani No Bhog', 'Pearl', 'Queen of Faries', 'The Enemy', 'My Hero'.

लता दीनानाथ मंगेशकर - (जन्म: सप्टेंबर २८, इ.स. १९२९) भारताच्या महान गायिका आहेत. हिंदी संगीत-विश्वात त्यांना 'लता-दीदी' म्हणून ओळखले जाते. भारताचा सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार 'भारतरत्न' प्राप्त होणाऱ्या गायक-गायिकांमध्ये लताबाईंचे नाव दुसऱ्या क्रमांकावर आहे.

  • १९५८ : फ्रांसने नवीन संविधान स्वीकारले. फ्रांसचे पाचवे प्रजासत्ताकअस्तित्त्वात आले. गिनी या फ्रांसाधीन प्रदेशाने हे संविधान न स्वीकारता स्वतंत्र होण्याचे ठरवले.
  • १९५९ : भारताची आरती शहा ही इंग्लिश खाडी पोहून जाणारी पहिली आशियाई महिला ठरली
  • १९७१ : युनायटेड किंग्डमने औषधांचा गैरवापर कायदा काढून गांजाचे वैद्यकीय उपयोग बेकायदा ठरवले.
  • १९९४ : एम.एस. एस्टोनिया ही फेरीबोट बाल्टिक समुद्रात बुडुन ८५२ व्यक्ती मृत्युमुखी पडले.
