9-October-1874	Nicholas Roerich, great professor, master, artist, scientist, educator, writer, designer, poet, explorer and humanitarian, was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. He led artistic and scientific expedition in Himalayas and settled in Kulu valley.
9-October-1877	Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, great freedom fighter, social reformer, educationist, poet, author, lawyer of modern Orrisa, was born in Puri District, Orissa.
9-October-1931	Air Force was established.
9-October-1942	Bibi Amar Kaur, freedom fighter, successfully hoisted the national flag at Jail Gate of Lahore. She was then arrested and send to Ambala Jail.

9-October-2000	The Reserve Bank of India issued bank notes in the denomination of Rs.1000 in the Mahatma Gandhi series bearing the leader's portrait in the watermark and signature of Dr. Bimal Jalan, Governor of the RBI. The length of the note is 177 mm and the width is 73 mm. The notes are printed in a combination of offset and intaglio processes. This is the first note with intaglio printing on it.
9-October-2000	A special court convicts former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha and her associate Sasikala and sentences them to undergo three years imprisonment and two years rigorous imprisonment in two 'Tansi land deal' cases.
